I am a Ohio Board Certified Family Relations Law Specialist and am honored to have been named as Cincinnati Family Lawyer of the Year-2011 by Best Lawyers in America. I provide both legal representation and mediation services in the areas of family and juvenile law.
My associate, Trista Portales Goldberg, is licensed to practice in both Ohio and Kentucky and provides legal representation in domestic relations and juvenile law in both jurisdictions.
When people ask me what I have learned over the past 31 years of practicing Family Law, it is that a high level of parental conflict in a divorce is toxic to children. It’s not the divorce itself, but the wrenching conflict that often comes with it. Whether children are 3 or 23 years old, watching the two most important people in their lives at war is devastating.
Some people choose to divorce. Others have the choice made for them. Divorce is a complicated blend of legal, psychological, social and emotional issues. Often, people have the choice of what KIND of divorce they will have. Some cases absolutely require the intervention of courts. An evaluation of domestic violence issues and the necessity of emergency temporary restraining, support or parenting Court Orders is required. But in most cases, there are a number of different options outside of the court system available to end a marriage.
I have focused the majority of my professional life on alternatives to the court system for families. While I continue to go to court on a limited basis, I primarily assist clients through the use of Collaborative Divorce and Mediation. I have received the highest peer review rating (AV) by Martindale Hubbell and have consistently been selected by my peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and Ohio Superlawyers. I have been named to the Top 50 Female Lawyers in Ohio and the Top 25 Female Lawyers in Cincinnati.
